STATE SCHOOL FAIR.
The local School Fair, in aid of the dependents of those who fell in The Jutland naval hat tie, promises to he a "real success. Some novel features have stimulated the enthusiasm of the pupils. Each child, for instance, is bringing one potato per day, and many one egg per week. This does not appear a great deal to the individual, hut it is a striking illustration of the principle, “unity is strength." Three hundred potatoes a day ensures that this vegetable at least will be well represented in the produce section. Many children are busy making articles, useful and fancy, for the stalls, while till have signilied their willingness to donate something which may be converted into coin of the realm. Many amusing competitions have been decided upon, and the staff are busy arranging musical items and drills, which should prove a most attractive feature. A display of >cbool work in the various classes should lind favour with
the parents. The sidiool, with its spacious quadrangle and large class rooms, is a very suitable building in which to hold the fair. One of these rooms will la 1 tastefully fitted out as a tea room, where patrons may refresh the inner man. With the generous assistance of the public, which we art 1 sure will be forthcoming-, (his effort will probably eclipse anything of a similar nature held in Foxton.
