A largo public meeting - was hold in the Town Hall to-night, at whieh the Alayur presided, and passed resolutions demanding that hotel bars should he brought under the Shops and Offices Act; also expressing indignation that (lie Government had not made provision for 6 o'clock closing, and asking - for a referendum on the subject if Parliament is not prepared to introduce the necessary legislation without it.
