PERSONAL.
By the last English mail Mr W. Nye reeeivod adviee of the death of his mother, whieh took place at Tunbridge, Kent, England, on April 15th. The deceased lady was 73 years of age. She was a sister of Mrs Geo. Hughes and Mrs Corkerv, of Eoxlon, and Mr William Ingram, Levin.
Mrs J. C. Hooper, of Kamo, Whangarei, is at present on a visit to Foxton, and is staying with her sister, Mrs Whibley. Her husband Lance-Corpora! Hooper, is at prestmt on active service “somewhere in France. 7 ’ He was an Imperial lleservist, and was called up on August, 13th, 1914. After serving for fifteen months in the Ypres region, he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal “for splendid devotion to duty in taking supplies under continuous shell tire. 77
