AS from Monday noxl, an alleratioii will In' made in lh«‘ Fo.xlon-Pal-merston railway service liine-1 able. Dissatisfaction was expressed by the tra veiling public at t lie* lime it t<k*k the train to do the journey from Palmerston to Foxlon, and an agitation was set afoot, and the Department urged to speed up the train. Instead of speeding - it up, the Department lias extended the time for (he Journey by lb minutes! The trains leaving Foxton daily, except Monday mornings, will leave 10 minutes earlier than heretofore. 'Phis will afford extra lime for shunting operations en route. The alteration to tin* time-table will not make any appreciable difference in the time it takes to do the journey, only that passengers will be required to make an earlier start. The change, so far as the travelling public is concerned, is not an improvement in llu 1 old order of things. Foxton is not in favour with the Deportment, and the treatment, in this connection is on a par with that: accorded to (he Harbour Board.in connection with.the wharf.
