LONDON WOOL SALES.

London, May 30,

At to-day’s wool sales a catalogue of 5,615 bales were offered. There was an excellent selection, chiefly of New Zealand and Western Australian clips, and a large attendance. Keen competition ruled, especially for merinos, owing to the scarcity, and best lots advanced 10 .per cent. ; average sorts 5 to 7A per cent., and fine crossbred fully 5 per cent. Medium and low qualities barely maintained previous levels.

In the wool trade it is considered unlikely that the Australian embargo' on export will be removed, the general impression being that the situation demands the conservation of merinos for the next few months.
