FOXTON PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
The Patriotic Shop, under the charge of Airs Greig and Miss J. Ross, did record business on Saturday last, despite the unfavourable weather. A list of donors will appear on Thursday.
Next Saturday, the King's Birthday, Mrs Baker and Miss Spoil's will undertake the management of the shop, and it is hoped that all loyal subjects of the King will rally round and give him a handsome birthday gift in the shape of funds for his wounded and sick braves. Another consignment of Motueka apples will be on sale. The rehearsals for the Patriotic Concert to be held on Thursday night next, (ith June, are going with a swing, and.the next one will be held at All Saints’ Schoolroom on Wednesday evening, at 7,30., and a full attendance is desired. An extra regarding the concert was issued on Saturday afternoon and created a deal of amusement, and in some quarters, concern. The collect ion of contents of Patriotic boxes will not be performed at the beginning of June, but May and June donations will be gathered together in the first week in July. The next monthly meeting of the Patriotic Society will be held at the Council Chamber on Thursday evening, June /ith, at 7.30. Mrs Podmore has relinquished her duties as a collector, and residents of her district are asked to note that Misses Berthold and Lenihan will in future undertake Sirs Podmore’s duties.
