OBITUARY.
MR. ALE. E. -I EXES. II is our painful duty to record the death of Mr All. E. -Junks, which look place l iu- the Palmerston X. Hospital at !> o’clock this morning. i\h‘ .leaks was ill for some weeks past with lung trouble. As his condition did not improve he was removed to the hospital for tlie purpose of mi operation. Despite careful nursing', his condition showed no improvement, and early this morning lie was very low, and it was decided to summon his wife and parents. Owing to the local telephone not opening before 8 a.m., it was impossible, although several attempts were made, to get a message through until after that hour. He passed away while his wife and parents were on the way to the hospital.
Deceased was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs E. E. -Jenks, two of our esteemed residents, and was born in Eoxton, and educated at the local school. He subsequently joined the railway service as a clerk. He, retired from the service some time ago, and was until his illness en-
gaged as a clerk by Mr W. Bock - , (laxmiller. Deceased's hobby was music, and no local or district; concert, was complete without a, vocal item from him. To all deserving efforts he gave his talents and services ungrudgingly. He was A member of All Saints' choir, and often otliciated as organist. Deceased leaves a widow and little daughter to mourn their loss, and to whom, and other members of the family, we, in common with the Eoxton public, tender our heartfelt sympathy.
