The reason for the shortage is difficult to ascertain. Our representative paid a visit to the Colonial Suyar Company’s works at Auckland -last Thursday, and in conversation with the manager, we were informed that there was a ‘‘hold up" somewhere*, hut the Company was not. in any way to hlame, as no stocks wore held at the works. This fact we can vouch for.
