FARMERS’ UNION.
The conference of delegates of the Wellington Provincial District of the New Zealand Banners’ Union will be held at Levin on May 30th and 31st. The order paper includes the following remits (Shannon) That the Government, if levying more taxes, be urged to levy a tax on all tickets ot theatres, picture shows, totalisator. and also on beer and spirits. (Executive) That the Conference supports the recommendation of the Arbitration Court to large employers of labour to pay employees a war bonus in preference to any permanent increases during the xxai. (Executive) That the Dominion Executive formulate a scheme to assist in providing employment for returned .soldiers. (Eeilding) That in view of the serious Menace aggregation of land is becoming to the xvelfare ot this country, the Government he urged to take more effective measures to prevent same. (Palmerston) That the Government impose a tax on all motor vehicles —such tax to be expended on the upkeep of roads.
