AN UNSATISFACTORY POSITION.
L\ THE LOCAL FLAXMILLING TRADE. The shortage of'shipping accommodation decided the local Jhixniillers some six weeks ago on a practical cessation of operations, but it has since been found that this decision was not strictly observed by all the millers, with the result that an unsatisfactory position has arisen in the trade. With the object of coining to an. amicable understanding, a meeting of millers was held in Palmerston on Tuesday, when 15 of the millers with the largest interests were present. It was unanimously resolved to request the exporters to meet a deputation of millers at the earliest possible date to consider the unsatisfactory position now in existence, which has been caused by some of the mills continuing work, and to endeavour to bring about an amicable arrangement between all parties. —Mamuvatu Standard,
