QUEEN ALEXANDRIA BAND.
A SPLENDID PERFORMANCE
The entertainment given in the Coronation Hall last night by the Queen Alexandria. Regimental Band' (Wanganui) was by far the best of its kind that the public of Foxlon have had the privilege of attending, and the memory of it will remain long with those who were present.. The whole performance was of a very high order, and we cannot individualise with either items or players, sufficient' to say that all upheld the reputation they have earned in the musical world, and the Foxton public will look forward with the hope, that they will later on be favoured with another visit from Lieutenant Buckley and his Band. As everyone in New Zealand knows, Lieutenant .Buckley ranks as one of the highest standing of hand conductors in the Dominion, and undoubtedly his hand, to a man, are with him in musical temperament. They not only play the music, hut feel it as well, and they are also able to make their audience feel it. as was evidenced last night by the manner in which the different items were received, almost every one being encored, and in many eases a single encore by no means satisfied (lie audience. Owing to tho Band arriving in Foxton earlier than was anticipated, there was no official welcome at the railway station, hut at the Hall Mr Kellow, in the absence of the Mayor, welcomed (he members.
During the* ;i ftornooii, Mr Signal arranged a river trip, which was very much appreciated by the visiters, who were also entertained at ten by members of the Girls’ Guild. At the conclusion of last; night’s ■performance', Mr \V. Smith, on behalf of the Girls' Guild, thanked Lieutenant Buckley and the members of the Band for their kindness in coining to entertain the Foxton public.
Supper was provided in the siip-per-room by members of the Girls' Guild for band members and the visitors from (he Rangiolu Cam]), alter whieh Lieutenant Buckley returned thanks for (he very hospitable manner in which they had been treated, and assured his hearers that they had enjoyed their visit to Foxlon very much indeed. The visitors were motored back to camp last night, and the Girls’ Guild desire to express (heir thanks to those who kindly provided ears for the purpose, and also to all who assisted in making the entertainment such a pronounced success.
