CLOSING DOWN THE MILLS.

(To the Editor.) Sir.— The man ! The man ! Elaxie, you are saved ! Mr McMurray,' in the light of: his great experience and great deeds in our world of llax, has called uik.ii those who have not closed thoir mills to meet and discuss and report. the following is the report of the meeting in advance,'tint as lam out of a job I also want payment in advance. There were present ; Mr McMurray and One Other, Mr McMurray in the chair. Proposed by the Chairman, .seconded by One Other, that if the shipping companies do not take away our hemp, we shall ship by German submarines. —Carried. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by One Other, that if the merchants do not pay for hemp it does not matter; we shall add it to the cost of the war. —Carried. Proposed by Mr McMurray, and seconded by One Other, that it shipping companies and merchants do not do as they are told, and as the German submarines can only deliver to Home ports, and a few months may elapse before being able to collect returns, payments for wages, green leaf, etc., be made by 1.0. U ried. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by One Ollier, that this meeting of experienced representatives of millers condemn the action of a few millers in shutting down their mills without first getting the Chairman’s consent, and call upon them to immediately re-start milling. If they find any difficulty in disposing of their hemp this meeting will he prepared to make arrangements for disposal of it on lines outlined by previous proposals, — Carried. Resolved that our Chairman he thanked for his great and splendid work, and that (he sum of lie voted to him as a small recompense for his loss of time ; payment to be made by 1.0.
