FOXTON BOROUGH BAND.
The annual meeting of members of the Foxton Borough Band was held on Thursday night. There was a good attendance, Mr P. Lumsden presiding. The annual balance-sheet, which was read and adopted, disclosed a very satisfactory position indeed, the year closing with_ a credit balance of 16s 2d. On the year’s working a credit of £7 18s was shown. The receipts totalled £62 16s rod, made up of : Borough Council ,£3O. Racing Club £l4, carolling and flower show £l4 14s honorary members and concert 2s yd, and donations and entry fees 19s 6d. The expenditure was as follows : Music and stationery £4 is 3d, conductor £45. timber and iron work £2 14s tod, Walker and Furrie £1 19 s lot *’ Drew an( * Read 16s, miscellaneous £s 6s xid, total £64 18s rod. Mr A. Lee was elected band sergeant, and Messrs Lumsden and Fodmore were re-appointed, to represent the honorary members on the committee.
Avery hearty vote-of thanks .was accorded the secretary (Mr A. Smith) for the able manner in ■which he had carried out the duties. It was pointed out that Mr Smith had held the position for three years, and that when he assumed office the finances were in a very weak state, and that the good financial position at present vfas in no, small measure dh e to bis efforts. It was decided to vote him a bonus of £s> Hearty votes of thanks to the officers and the chairman Concluded the meeting.
