REGISTRATION. j Registration insures proof of the j delivery of mail-matter by placing I h under the hand-to-hand check of j every officer dealing with it. Registered matter should he placed iu strong covers. All classes ol matter may be registered; but 1 commercial papers, printed papers, etc., must be so packed as to admit or easy examination. Every person who registers a letter is entitled to a receipt for it from the office at which it is registered. If a further receipt is desired from the addressee, this will be obtained upon payment by the sender of an additional fee of 2 l Ad. at the time ot registration or subsequently. in the event of the Joss of an inland registered letter or a registered letter from any country with which New Zealand has a reciprocal arrangement as to indemnities the Postmaster-General consents, under i certain conditions, to he liable to ■ pav a sum not exceeding £2. POSTAL NOTES New Zealand. The notes are issued lor nine amounts, upon which poundage is charged as follows For notes of 1/, :/6, 2/- and 2;o, poundage y 2 d; 3/- and 5/-, poundage id.; 10/-, 15/-, and 20/-, poundage 2d. British Postal Orders.—British postal orders for fixed sums from Od. to il are issued for payment in the United Kingdom and some of tue British possessions. The poundage is : Up lu 2/0, id ; to 15/., 2d • to £l, 3d. ’ Money Orders (for places within New Zealand). Pur sums not over £5 the charge is 3d; £lO, 6d: £ls, yd; £2O, is.; £25, is 3d: £3O, is sd; £35, is gd; £4O, 2s, TELEGRAPH. Tariff rates. —* Inland: Ordinary telegrams, from any station to any station, for 12 words or less, including address and signature, 8d; for every additional word, Urgent telegrams.—For 12 words or less, including address and signature, 1/2; for every additional word, Id.
