FOXTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Foxton Borough Council was held last night to receive the Town Clerk’s resignation. Present: The Mayor (Mr A. Fraser), and Cts Henderson, Whibley, McColl, Stevenson and Bryant. An apology for absence was received from Cr Freeman. The Mayor said the meeting had been called to deal with the resignation of the Town Clerk. Personally he was very sorry that Mr Kent-Johnston had decided to leave Foxton, as during the time he had been town clerk he had carried out the duties very efficiently, and very well. He understood that it was for family reasons that he was leaving here. He desired to get near to Auckland, and had applied for the position of Town Clerk at Otahuhu, and had received the appointment. He moved that the resignation of the Town Clerk be accepted with regret, and the Council wishes Mr Kent-johnston every success in his new sphere of work. The motion was seconded by Cr Whibley and.carrieg. It was decided to invite applications to fill the vacancy at a salary of per annum, applications to close on Monday, April 17th, at 7 p.m., and a schedule of duties and conditions in connection with the position was drawn up.
