ENTERTAINMENTS.

FULLER’S PICTURES

A programme of exceptional merit was screened at the Town Hall last night, the special feature being the 13th episode of the “Million Dollar Mystery” in “The Secret Agent from Russia,” another thrilling number of the great serial. Other pictures of merit are : “Scarborough,” scenic; “Sonny Jim and the Valentine,” comedy drama ; “Labour Day in Wellington,” interest ; “Over and Back,” comedy; “The Steeplejack’s Revenge,” drama ; “Pathe Gazette” ; and “Billie Joins the Navy,” comic. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

An outstanding feature of tomorrow's change is “The Lute of the Mask,” a distinctly American creation by the Flying A. Co. The story shows how Jack Hilliard hearing a woman’s voice singing an Italian Aria follows her but loses her in a fog. Again he heard the voice, and this time he met the girl. He was invited to dine with her. This he does, only to hud she is masked. The following day she sails for Italy with the American Opera Company. His old Italian servant, whose daughter, betrayed by a prince, has died, wishes to go to Italy for revenge. Hilliard decides to accompany him. From here there are so many exciting scenes and tense moments that the spectator tinges with suppressed emotion. The power of depicting pure and passionate love has never shone to finer effect. Other items are : “Grinagor,” scenic ; “To Save Him From His Wife,” comedy drama; “Topical Budget”; and “Captain Kidd and Ditto,” comedy.
