THE ECONOMIC WAR.
A conference recently held at Dresden to anange an AustroGerman commercial and political rapproachment concluded its sittings, with the appointment of a working committee representing Austria, Hungary, and Germany to carry out the decisions of the congress and of the previous congresses at Berlin and Vienna. This committee is empowered to ask advice of any experts it chooses. A resolution was passed insisting on the necessity of Bulgaria and Turkey joining the Austro-German commercial union. Important meetings on this subject continue to be held throughout Germany and Austria, A propaganda is being carried on among the working classes, and at Graz the German-speaking Austrian Artisan' Association held a mass meeting, advocating an immediate Customs union between the Central Empires. Herr Held, a member of the Reichsrath, said that the Customs union must extend from Germany to the Indian Ocean, and from Berlin to Baghdad.
