RAILWAY GANGER KILLED.

A accident, resulting in the death of Ganger Currie, occurred la the Manawatu Gorge on Tuesday night. As the driver of a train was passing through the Gorge, at about xx.3o o’clock, he noticed an over turned trolly, with the light still burning, lying beside the line. He pulled up to investigate, and on going back found the body of Ganger Currie lying beside the line. Death had apparently been instantaneous, as the deceased man’s head was terribly injured. The body was taken into Palmerston. Appearances point to the fact that Currie was trying to get the trolly off the line when the vehicle was struck by the cowcatcher of a train, probably the 8 o’clock, which came through from Waipukurau. An inquest*was held at Palmerston. N. yesterday, by Mr Poynton, S.M.
