RIFLE SHOOTING.
FOXTON WINS FRESH FOOD CUP. The Fresh Food and Ice Company’s Cup, which was presented for competition annually among the rifle clubs in the district extending from Foxton and Shannon in the north to Paekakariki in the south, has this year been won by the local club. The conditions of the competition are two shoots by teams of eight from each club, seven shots each at 200, 500 and 600 yards, the club putting up the highest aggregate to hold the cup for the year. The competition was fired last Saturday and the previous Saturday, the following being the scores registered :
Levin, Ngatiawa and Whareroa Clubs also competed. On Saturday, March 25th, the annual competition for the Field Shield, between the Clubs in the Otaki Electorate, will be held. This competition takes place on the Palmerston range. Foxton will be represented by the team that won the Fresh Food Cup.
