FULLER’S PICTURES. “AT THE MERCY OF LIBERIUS.” A programme of exceptional merit will be screened at the Town Hall to-night. An outstanding feature being a film version of Augustus Evan Wilson’s notable work of fiction, “At the Mercy of Tibeiius,” featuring the brilliant actress, Florence La Badie. Beryl, the granddaughter of General Barrington, at her mother’s request makes an appeal' to the General for assistance in order that her mother will be able to undergo an operation. The General has not forgiven the mother of his granddaughter for eloping, and marrying against his will, but he gives the girl the money required, and other valuables, not because he forgives, but because a Southern gentleman always helps a woman in distress. Shortly afterwards the General is found dead. It is thought he was murdered. Beryl is arrested ; the money and trinkets found upon her are taken as the money. Beryl thinks that it is her brother who committed the deed, and will not tell whose voice she heard in an altercation with the General, just prior to the dead body being found. But her brother appears and tells the story. Then comes the terrific climax, and it is made clear how the General met his death. The evidence is indisputable, the judge remarks that it is “God’s Witness.” Another special feature in addition to the usual programme is a 2000 ft. Keystone comedy entitled, “Sea Nymths,” featuring Fatty Arbuckle and Mabel Normand. The usual complement of scenic, dramatic, topical and comic items constitute a lip lop programme.
MONDAY AND TUESDAY. On Monday and Tuesday another splendid programme has been arranged in which the Vitagraph Company present a sparkling comedy which leaps the limit in laughter, entitled, “War.” The action of the story takes place in America, where there are mapy nations represented, most of them being directly connected with the titanic European struggle. A French family and a German family are on distinctly warlike terms. The last straw is added to the parents’ hate when the son and daughter ot the respective families fall in love and marry. The complications are so funny and so swift in action that there is scarcely breathing time between each hearty laugh. Eventually the marriage of the children makes the parents forget there is such a thing as war. Other items of interest are : “Beautiful Love,” a pleasing and exhilarating comedy drama ; “The Quality of Mercy,” drama ; “It May be You,” comedy; “The Gaumont Graphic,” topical ; and “The Cornet,” drama.
