BOWLING.
The match played on the local green yesterday afternoon for the Nye Ferns, between McColl’s rink (holders) and Rimmer’s rink (challengers) was a very close one, the margin at the finish being one point in favour of the challenging team. From the start the holders got a break on, and after the seventh head the score stood 13 —3 in their favour. Then Rimmer’s team scored on four heads in succession, and at the afternoon tea adjournment the board read fourteen all, and eight heads to play. After the nineteenth head McColl had a lead oi four, but Rimmer scored three on the next head and two on the final head. The following are the teams and scores ; Holders. Challengers. Large Lumsden Barr Smith Spring Admore McColl (s) 20 Rimmer (s) 21 In the pairs competition last week, Lumsden and D. Whibley (4) 27 beat Barr and McColl (3) 17.
