The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, February 24, 1915. THE WHIROKINO BRIDGE.

Drivers of vehicles should exercise care in negotiating the Whirokino bridge at night time, as the decking is very faulty, and some of the planks have rotted out, and a horse travelling at other than a walking pace could easily trip, and result in a very serious accident. The local authorities concerned have decided to re-deck the bridge, and the work is urgent. In the meantime we issue this warning to the travelling public to exercise every care in crossing the structure, as already several narrow escapes are recorded.
