THE SEASIDE.
A local resident asks why the Borough Council does not exercise a little enterprise in advertising the local seaside resort by getting photos taken of the seaside when hundreds of people are there and have them reproduced in the leading illustrated papers ? The suggestion is a good one as it is surprising how little is known ot this fine seaside resort outside the district. There is nothing to compare with it as a health and bathing resort anywhere in the North Island, but much needs to be done in the way of environment, such as tree planting, public appointments, etc., in order to attract outsiders. The local Borough Council, however, have no power to act in anything concerning the seaside, it is outside its jurisdiction. The Harbour Board is the controlling body and possesses the endowments and the Manawatu County Council is the next in authority. Any suggestions lor the improvement of the seaside and the betterment of those who make it a holiday or health resort should be made to the Harbour Board.
