FRENCH FAITH IN BRITAIN.

After summarising the extent of British effort, and showing the debt the allied cause owes to the British fleet, the Paris Temps says: “Great Britain has put out all her strength in the struggle. Rather than yield she will sacrifice the last man and the last shilling. This conscious and reasoned tenacity which, as with the other allies, rests on her knowledge of the possession of force and energy sufficient to be able to persevere, is not one of the least virtues of our friends across the channel. Their fundamental determination to make the effort necessary to beat the enemy is shown by the success of the voluntary recruiting organised by Lord Derby and by the increasingly - powerful army that England is sending to fight by our side. This solidarity, acting on land as on sea, is proof of the intimate entente uniting England and the allies, and is contributing daily to the closer Hnking-up of their co-operation. This feeling of duty, this high conception of common sacrifices, have the result that in exchanges of views, where each will always freely express his whole opinion, the decisions taken will be inspired always by a single consideration of the requisites tor the common victory.”
