ODDFELLOWSHIP.
VISITING DELEGATES ENTERTAINED.
The delegates who are visiting Foxtou for the purpose of attending the annual meeting of the Wanganui District of the M.U., 1.0. which is being held today, were last night entertained at a banquet in the Masonic Hall by members ot the local Oddfellows’ Lodge. The interior ot the building presented a very pleasing appearance, the stage and walls being tastefully decorated with evergreens and bunting, and large streamers were suspended from the ceiling- The whole of the floor space was occupied by heavily laden tables, which were also nicely decorated. The seating accommodation was fully occupied, there being about 100 people present, including a large number of the fair sex. Mr Hornblow presided, and apologised for the unavoidable absence ot the Mayor, who was away in Wanganui, and consequently was unable to attend. He also apologised for the absence of the ex-Mayor, Mr G, H. Stiles, who was away from Foxton. After full justice had been done to the good things provided, the following toasts were honoured : “The King and the M.U., 1.0. (Chairman); “Wanganui District,” proposed by Bro. G. Huntley and responded to by Bros. Hope (Wanganui), Beadnell (Palmerston N.), and Salek (Wellington) ; “Our Brave Boys at the Front,” proposer, Bro. P. G. Jackson, response, Bro. Aitken (Feilding) ; “Our Lodge Doctor,” proposer Bro. S, Watson (Palmerston N.), response Dr Mandl; “Kindred Societies,” proposer Bro. Sharman (Palmerston N), response Bro. F- D. Whibley (Druids) ; “Visiting Brethren,” proposer Bro. C. J. Keut-Johnstou, response Bros. Thompson (Feildiug), Garlick and Moran ; “Loyal Foxton Lodge,” proposer Bro, Espiner (Bunnythorpe), response Bro. G. S. Whibley; “The Ladies,” proposer Bro. Russell (Raetihi), response Bro. Salek (Wellington) ; “The Press,” proposer Bro. Duthie, response Mr h. D. Whibley ; “Chairman,” proposer Bro. S. Watson, response Mr Hornblow. During the evening Misses Jenks and Evans and Mrs Ashmore played pianoforte solos, and vocal items were contributed by Messrs H. Signal, Aitken, Guilder and Blakely, a duet by Mrs Patterson and Mr T. Henderson, and a recitation by tne Rev Mr Rowe. The accompaniments were played by Miss Jenks and Mr Haines. The function was brought to a close by the singing 01 Auld Lang Syne.
