RAILWAY MATTERS.

CONFERENCE AT MARTON. (By Telegraph,) Mar Ton, This Afternoon. Delegates from the Rangitikei, Horowhenua and Manawatu County Councils, Levin, Marton and Foxton Borough Councils, Bulls Town Board and Marton Chamber of Commerce, together with Messrs Field and Newman M’s.P., met in conference at Marton at 11 a.m. Sir James Wilson (chairman of the Manawatu County Council) was elected chairman. After discussion a general committee was set up consisting of all delegates present, to go into the whole question of railway matters to be considered by the Royal Commission, and to set up sub committees for the collection of evidence, and to decide on witnesses and procedure before the Royal Commission.

The meeting then went into committee to set up sub-com-mittees and discuss details.
