FULLER’S PICTURES,
The current programme at Fuller’s is an exceptionally good one and an additional feature is a picture with a world-wide reputation entitled, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” adapted from the poem of immortal fame by Mrs Ward Howe. Another outstanding feature is a 3000 ft. drama, “Enemies,” the story of a brother’s revenge and is one of the most startling of any sea story yet filmed. A fine complement of topical, dramatic and comic items constitute a splendid programme which will be repeated to-night. MONDAY AND TUESDAY. The star item for Monday’s change Is a big picture of merriment entitled, “Who Goes There?” There are three lieuts., and each one has planned an elopement with the girl he loves. A minister is informed by each, and everything is arranged tor the weddings. They were to go to Mrs Hadley’s. Two of the lieutenants obtained leave of absence. This starts the trouble. Tom Wheeler has arrived at the village near the military camp. He is to marry cousin Julia. To complicate matters he has borrowed a suit of Lieutenant Newman’s clothes, and to add to the rumpus there is a wairant out for a lieutenant, name unknown. Lieutenant Newman has not been able to obtain leave, so be bolts for it. The thing is to smuggle the girls to Mrs Hedley’s where the minister is waiting. Here more difficulties arise and by this time mostly everyone is involved. The minister eventually gets them together. Other items are : “Pathe Gazette” ; “His Convert,” drama ; “Miss Tomboy and Freckles,” comedy; “Their One Love,” drama; “The Royal Mint,” educational ; “The Story of a Story,” drama. BAKER BROS.’ PARAGON CIRCUS TO-NIGHT. Baker Bros.’ big circus has arrived in Foxton and almost every young child is saying come and see the circus. A circus is, at any time, an object of interest, and this much-discussed show according to press accounts is what the Americans would call “some show.” The circus paddock, which is located at the rear ot Messrs Stiles and Matheson’s shop, is fast becoming one mass of white canvas, donkeys, mules, horses, and jeenetts, etc., coming from the railway station in dozens, and tent men were seen working from early this morning getting ready tor the big performance to - night. A feature of the circus Is the clever performance of the Baker family, a troupe of lady and gentlemen artists. Mr Frank Baker is worth the price of admission alone, this young man is absolutely the world’s greatest somersault rider, turning back and forward somersaults on the bare back of a horse. Others worth mentioning are : Kioto, the Japanese wonder, who juggles barrels etc. with his feet and walks the silver wire to perfection, this performer is a real Japanese and is worth seeing ; Labelle Gertie, late of Ringling Bros.’ great American circus, performs a clever act on the high trapeze and also gives a fine dental performance; first appearance in New Zealand of Miss Barberina, the poetry of motion on the tight wire, also in her marvellous contortion act which she performs forty feet in the air ; Happy Jackies and his performing dogs and monkeys gives a clever animal act, and makes an excellent clown ; Frederick Carlson, novelty musician ; Carlo Camnillard, handbalancer, etc. ; The Human Aeroplanes, etc., etc. One pound a minuce is offered to anyone who can stay on Gentle Annie, the bucking jeenett. These acts mentioned are only a part of the performance offered to Foxton folks. Reserved seats can be booked on the ground as the ticket box is open between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m. and 6,15 onwards. Prices 3s and 2s, children half-price. No extra charge tor reserves.
