ENTERTAINMENTS.
FULLER’S PICTURES. The popularity of the world’s greatest serial, “The Million Dollar Mystery,” continues unabated, and there was a full house to witness the 4th episode in “The Third Floor Flat” last night. Marvels in motion pictures, daring and hazardous portrayal of a magnitude never before enacted, will be presented as each episode of this mystery is shown at the Town Hall. Supporting items consist of scenic, comedy, topical, dramatic and cartoon subjects. The programme will be repeated to-night, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. There will be another big boom for Friday and Saturday’s change ot programme, featuring a Vitagraph star drama entitled, “Enemies,” the story of a brother’s revenge. Captain Waverley, a seaman suffering under the wrong that has been done his dead sister, vows vengeance on her betrayer. Irene, the shipowner’s daughter, falls in love with the captaiu, but he courteously keeps his distance. She is piqued, and accepts the attention of Sargeant, a prominent lawyer. In Sargeant the captain recognises the man he has long searched for. Shortly after the captain is promoted to the command of a new four-masted vessel. The captain is filled with a fierce joy at the realisation ot the ppwer invested in him. From this on he pursues his fearful revenge. Every moment from this on is filled with joy to the captain and his chiet officer and terror to the betrayer ot his sister, whom he has had shanghaied. The climax is one of the most startling ot any sea story yet filmed. Other items are: “A New Way to Win,” comic ; “No One Would Believe,” drama ; “Mary Jane Entertains,” comedy ; “Topical Budget.” An additional feature will be the famous film, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” This picture will have special musical accompaniment.
BAKER BROS.’ CIRCUS
Foxton folk will have the chance to see what is advertised as the greatest show in Australia, Baker Bros.’ paragon circus, which will open here on Saturday .night next tor one night only. This show is entirely new to New Zealand, as it comes here direct from Australia, and, according to press accounts is something out of the ordinary. This big circus will arrive here on Saturday by special train and will open in the evening. The Baker family, a big act, numbering seven people, are a clever troupe of trapeze, wirewalkers, tumblers and jugglers. Kioto, is a Japanese performer, and Frederick Carlson is described as a novelty musician who has just concluded a three months’ contract with Fuller and Brennan in Australia, Miss Barberina is an American, presenting a unique act. Master Frank rides horses. Labelle Gertie is late of Ringling Bros.’ circus, America, holding weights with her teeth, also working on a high trapeze. Carlo Camnillard is a Belgian boy, giving an entertaining act. The Walkotsky sisters dance and present one of the prettiest acts in the circus ring. Happy Jackies, an Englishman, presents a novel act with donkeys, cats, monkeys and dogs. Brasso and Fips, Mephisto, the flying man, Derlino, the comedy girl, etc., help to make a good programme. Gentle Annie, the only bucking jeenett in the world. £1 will be given by the Baker management for anyone whocan stay on this animal’s back. Patrons vvoujd be wise to secure reserved seats during the afternoon on the ground, at the rear of Messsrs Stiles and Matheson’s shop, to avoid the crowd at night.
