DR. BARNARDO’S HOMES.
YOUNG HELPERS LEAGUE. Upwards of forty children attended a meeting yesterday afternoon at the Council Chambers convened by Mrs F. Robinson, president of the local habitation of the Young Helpers League, in connection with Dr. Barnardo’s Homes, to discuss means of promoting greater local interest in the movement. Mrs Barber, sear., local secretary, Mr Hornblow, treasurer, and Miss J. Ross were also in attendance. It was ascertained that 50 collection boxes had been distributed to children per medium of the local State school, 25 of which were returned for opening yesterday and the names of the holders and amount in each box ascertained and noted. It was decided to meet the children at school and further discuss League matters with a view to forwarding an annual sum ot ,£lO to headquarters. The League secretary desires to acknowledge a donation of 10s from Mr A. H. Yates, of Moutoa.
