MAROTIRI OR MOUTOA.
(To the Editor). Sir.—ln last Tuesday’s issue of the Heral,d it was stated that a deputation consisting ot Messrs Carter and Greig, of Moutoa, waited upon the Education Board to protest against the removal of the school from Moutoa to Marotiri, and pointed out that some 40 children would be inconvenienced by it. First, sir, I assume that the Mr Carter is Mr W. E. Carter, who with his family resides in a town called Palmerston N, as the gentleman who was one of the deputation. His interest in the welfare of our children’s convenience, and education begins and ends in the fact that he possesses a farm a short distance Moutoa school. I suppose he didn’t tell the Education Board that. As for Mr Greig, I don’t know how many children he is interested in, but his mill is also pretty close to the Moutoa school. The deputation said forty children would be inconvenienced if the school were removed. 1 would like to know where they get the forty from. It is a pity sir, that you never published the other statements they made, put perhaps we will hear them when the settlers are interviewed by the Board delegates. Marotiri has been shoved out too long, and it’s time the parents who represent a majority of school children iu the district had their interests studied. Its the children’s education and convenience we’re after, not property.—l am etc., INTERESTED.
