ROLL OF HONOUR.
The casualty list of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, now engaged in operations in the Dardanelles, since the publication of our last issue, is as follows : DIED OF WOUNDS. Headquarters. Sergeant Gordon Macdonald. DIED OF DISEASE. Died of Cerebro Spinal Meningitis, Canterbury Mounted. Trooper G. C. Paget. WOUNDED. AUCKLAND MOUNTED. Trooper A. C. Day. SUMMARY OF CASUALTIES. A return issued by the Defence Department shows that up to and including lists published on January xoth the total number of casualties reported in connection with the New Zealand expeditionary forces was 8147. These casualties comprised 1117 members of the forces killed in action, 559 died of wounds, 278 died of disease, 2 died from cause unknown, 32 (including 10 nurses) drowned, 655 missing, 22 prisoners of war, and 5492 wounded. The total number of officers, men and nurses reported as dead up to January roth was 1988. The casualties are classified as follows :
