FRIENDLY SOCIETIES SPORTS.
* Although there was a fairly large attendance at the Friendly Societies Picnic -and Sports held . in Victoria Park On New Year’s ’ Day, the local. public was not largely represented the big majority of those present being visitors. The gathering Was very successful ’■■in every way, a. most enjoyable time being spent by those present. The Weraroa fioys’ Band was in attendance, and; played a number Of selections ‘.during the day, which were ropclx appreciated. , The profits of the meeting are to be donated to the Wounded (Soldiers’ Fund j and as a result of same the fund’,, will benefit to the extent ot about £lO. The tearooms on the ground were con- - ducted by the/ local Ladies’ Guild under the , management of Mes- , dames, F. and J. H. Robinson, who with th&r assistants were kept, very busy during the whole afternoon. The following are the results : Boys’ Race, under 14.—A. Astey 1, R. Weston 2. Girls, under 14. —M. Andrews i, M.
