FULEER’S PICTURES. The change of programme for Wednesday and Thursday is a really first class one, the star item being “The Better Man.” The story is of Mark Slabbing and Lionel Barmere, two young and ambitious clergyman, and is probably the most dramatic narrative of its class that has ever been screened. The two clergymen are in love with the daughter of a wealthy capitalist. One of them has been blest with opportunities, while the other is a self-made man, who. though lacking the polish, has all the fervour and perseverance that make for success. Lionel Barmere is placed in charge of a wealthy parish, while the self-made man is located in the slums. The daughter of the capitalist has told each of the two men she will consider the matter of each man’s love and will give her hand to the “better man." Lional Barmere becomes a bishop, but Mark Stebbing remains in his poor parish and fights the good fight, and puts his energies into uplifting the labouring class. In the trying times which eventuate, and among the many dramatic scenes which occur, the daughter of the capitalist finds the man she loves and is happy with the better man. Also : “The Great War,” interest; “Dickson’s Diamonds,” drama ; “Palma,” scenic ; “ Gaumont Graphic” ; and “The Mysterious Mr Davy,” comedy.
