THE GAS WORKS.

NOVEMBER WORKING. The gas works statement for the month of November is as follows : Gas in holder on Nov. xst 3.500 ft., gas manufactured 34 r <‘ 300 ft., total 344,800 ft. Gas used by consumers (lighting) 144,700 ft., (cooking and heating) 63,600 ft., (power) 75.5°° {t -> nsed ln street lamps 20,200 ft,, used at works 2,1000 ft., in holder on December Ist 5000 ft., totalling 330,000 ft., leaving 14,800 ft, representing per cent, of the output unaccounted for. Twentynine tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 11,750 ft. per ton. Earnings : Gas sales (lighting) £BS 12s 4d, (heat and power) is 1 id, meter rent 13s, coke sales Ll 8s 6d, tar sales £24 12s 6d, weighing 17s fittings £,\ 2s 6d, miscellaneous £l, total -£lB7 los 8d Expenditure: coal £3B ss, salaries and wages 5s rod, labour £l, pipes 7s, fittings 7s Bd, tools £ 1 7s. working expenses os 4d, interest and sinking fund £s<) ns Bd, total £307 4 s 6d,
