He also calls for applications for the right to cut hay at the cemetery. A shocking accident occurred at Liggins’ flaxraill, at Tokomaru, on Tuesday morning whereby an employee named William McLeod sustained injuries which resulted in his death shortly alterwards. Easton, of the Motoa Estate, in giving the Mayor the other day lor the Hospital Ship, intimated his intention ot donating £2O monthly from the beginning ot the year to Foxton Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, on the understanding that that fund (of which the Mayor and Mr Len, Freeman are trustees) shall be devoted exclusively to the telelf of our own wounded soldiers or the dependents of those who have fallen. Mr Easton is going to continue the ,£2O monthly as long as the war shall last, and hopes that some of the other people of the district will also make a monthly payment to the fund. Schools will close for the Christmas vacation as from the afternoon of Thursday, December 16th and will re-open on Tuesday, February xst. The Board direct the committee’s attention to the following regulations regarding school holidays :—“Head teachers are enjoined to see that the school time-table is strictly followed till the close of the last school day before the commencement of any school holiday, except in so far as this arrangement may be modified (1) by the holding of the term examination, or (2) by the Committee with a view to the formal breaking-up ot the school. If there should be any extra duties to perform, such as preparation of prize lists, one of the staff must be detailed for this purpose, and such arrangements must be made as will allow of the school work proceeding in the usual way.”
To effect a certain purpose there is at mie time or another a necessity to employ a term or phrase, and in varying ways. For the public in general “personal knowledge ’’ is the best and good guide to attain one’s purpose ; for instance, many statements are made perhaps thoughtlessly, perhaps maliciously, regarding the origin of accredited 'brands of goods, but the pass word of such articles is the esteem and personal knowledge held in the public mind, and by the good name of, say, Wolfe's Schnapps. Therefore, those persons who want an article they ask for should be sure of their request. There is only one Wolfe’s Schnapps and one only. Wolfe’s Schnapps is and always has been made in Holland, and is distilled from the finest bailey aromatized from the Italian juniper berry. Purchasers should ask for the real original—the made in Holland, the bottled in Holland, The Wolfe’s Schnapps. Look for the name which is on every label and bottle.
