METHODIST CHURCH.

SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVER-

SARY, The Methodist Sunday School Anniversary was continued on Tuesday evening, when the annual social and presentation of prizes was held in the supperroom of the Coronation Town Hall. The Rev. W. Rowe presided. There was a large and appreciative audience. The programme was given by the children, and reflected great credit on all who had helped in their training. Under the baton of Mr Betty, and with Miss Evans as organist, the children delighted the audience with their rendering of the special anniversary hymns. Added interest was given to a national hymn, “ Where the flag ot Britain flies,” by the senior boys in their cadet uniform, holding the British flag. Recitations were given by Misses Lucy Hussey, Dulcie Staff, N, Spring, Olive Andrews, Mona Littlejohn, C. Honor, Marion Stiles and Doris Sherratt also Masters Roy Bullard, Willie Hurst, Eric Stiles and Roy Parker, Little Vera Sherratt sang “ Daddy ” very sweetly, and another pleasing item was “Hush, here comes the Dream-man,” sung by Muriel Daniell, Felicia Owen and Florrie Chalk, with six little tots in a tableaux, illustrating the song. A vocal duet List to the Convent Bells,” and also an instrumental duet for violin and organ were given by Misses Irene Stiles and Florrie Chalk. An amusing dialogue “ Domestic Aside,” was given by four of the senior girls. Eight junior girls, each representing a letter in the word ‘‘Thank You,” thanked the audience very prettily, for their attendance.

Tbe presentation of prizes was made by the Rev. W. Rowe. There were ist, 2nd and 3rd prizes given in each class ; but in addlto these the other children were also awarded books. The annual report and balance-sheet read by the secretary was very satisfactory. Refreshments were banded round, and after a vote of thanks to all who had assisted in making the anniversary such a success especially Mr Betty for conducting the children’s choir, the meet* log closed with the singing of tbe National Anthem.

Tbe children will repeat their hymns next Sunday,at both mornand evening services.
