BOWLING.
The Manawatu Bowling Centre is holding a Patriotic Pairs Tournament on Wednesday, November 24th, commencing at 2 p.m. The entrance fee is 6s per pair. Trophies will be provided lor the winners and the balance donated to the Patriotic Fund. It is probable that the local club will be represented.
The Te Aroha Bowling Club is raising to light its green for evening play.
The first match for the Nye Ferns will be played on Wednesday afternoon next. In this competition the players have been classified into three sections : first and second players, third players and skips. Skips only are eligible to challenge the holders of the Ferns and can select one player from the second section and two from the first section to make up their team. The first holders of the trophy were balloted for, the team being as follows; Betty, Barr, Spring, McColl (s). A challenge has been issued by Petrie and the game will be played on Wednesday. The president’s team is: Large, Hooker, F. Whibley, Petrie (s).
The following are the results of further competition games played: Colts. Hooker (4) 2S beat Ruffell (4) 13.
Pairs.—Lumsden and D. Whibley (4) 26 beat Hooker and F. Whibley (5J 24.
