The Manawatu Herald. Tuesday, November 9, 1915. THE MONEY MARKET.

In the November issue the New Zealand Trade Review, dealing with the money market says : “The Bank returns revealed a splendid supply of funds in hand, and we understand this supply is still ample for all requirements. Our trading balance of exports over imports is a phenomenally heavy one. An excess of exports of nearly ten millions is unprecedented, and means a splendid flow of funds into the Dominion. Applications for the Government ,£2,000,000 loan closed on Saturday and we quite expect to see this fully subscribed. The effect of this will doubtless be shown in the bank returns for the current quarter, but as the surplus of bank deposits is some three times the amount of the loan, it can hardly cause any shortage of funds. The Savings Bank returns continue to show a heavy excess of deposits, amounting for the last twelve months to over 2 1 /i millions, which is another indication of money being plentiful. Present indications point to another highly remunerative export season ; prices for our principal products seem likely to maintain a higher level ; and production should be fairly heavy.”
