ERUPTION.
FRYING PAN BLOWN AWAY.
Rotorua, Nov. 5
Waimaugu Geyser exploded at 2 o’clock this Afternoon. The eruption was much less than that of April 12, being a single shot of three or four minutes’ duration. A column of mud, water and steam rose 200 or 300 feet, and a cavity 60 feet across was formed. The Frying Pan Flat was almost blown away. After the explosion the geyser became absolutely quiescent, and no sign of eruption has been manifested since.
