FOXTON PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
A meeting convened by the local Patriotic Society was held in Uic Council Chambers last night. There was a fair attendance, including several ladles. The Mayor (Mr Alf. Fraser) presided, and slated that the object of the meeting was to put the Society on a proper and legal footing under the War Funds Act. On the motion ot Messrs Rev. Raine and Royes, it was decided to form a Foxton Patriotic Society. It was decided, on the motion ot Mr Kellow, that an executive committee of seven be elected, in addition to the president and secretary. It was resolved that the Ladies’ and Girls’ Guilds be asked to appoint one delegate each on the executive. The Mayor was elected president and Mr L. Freemam secretary and treasurer. The following were elected an executive ; Mrs Raine, Messrs Kellow, Ailken, Rev. Raine, C. Simmons, and one representative trom each of the two Guilds. The President and Secretary were appointed trustees of the fund. The members’ joining fee was fixed at 2s 6d, an amendment that it he rs was lost. On the motion of Dr Mandl, it was decided to hold a carnival on a date to be fixed by the executive. It was decided to call a public meeting to discuss the carnival proposition on Thursday, nth Inst. The usual vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting.
