BOWLING.
There were about sixteen bowlers on the green yesterday afternoon, and both croquet lawns were occupied, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Afternoon tea was provided by Miss Speirs. A meeting of the committee of the local Club was held last night to arrange the season’s competitions. It was decided that the competition for the Golder Cup be open to all members, the conditions to be the same as last year. For the President's trophy the competition will be handicap singles. Rach player to play every other player. Members joining this year not to be eligible. Mr Woods’ trophy will be competed for by members of the club who have played for not more than one season in addition to the current one. Rach player to play every other player. Handicap pairs, open to all members, for trophies presented by Mr Admore. Pairs to be drawn, and the competition to be played in nine rounds, with a time limit for each round. Mr Nye has presented a set of ferns for a rink competition, for which members will be classified into three sections, the first section to include first and second players, the second section to include members eligible to play as third players, and the other section to be the skips. The skips only shall be eligible to issue a challenge to the holders of the Ferns, and to select one player from the second section and two from the first. Messrs Petrie, Nye and Woods were appointed hand!cappers, and it was decided that the competitions commence on Wednesday, November 10th. It was decided to have a contribution box for the Wounded Soldiers Fund placed on the table in the pavilion for voluntary contributions from members.
