CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Now that National Registration has come upon us, a good many married men will register to serve If required, though we think the single men should go first. There are quite a number of married men who have no knowledge whatever of drill. May I offer the following suggestion : That married men living in country districts should form their own local detachments, where they have a man of some military experience, he could put them through say, once a week, and teach them all he could, and once a month they could go to the nearest drill-hall and get polished up by the official drill instructor. What they learn in this way now they won't have to learn later on, it would be a good help to the men as well as the Sergt.-Instructor. I would like to hear other views on this matter.—l am, etc., Scout. [We believe the formation ot a branch of the National Reserve would meet the case and suggest that our correspondent communicate with Major Tatum, ot Manakau, on the subject.—Ed. H.j
