NATIONAL WAR REGISTER.

SCHEDULES TO BE ISSUED NEXT TUESDAY.

Personal schedules in connection with the National War Register for completion by male residents of the Dominion h.-tween the ages of 17 and 60 years, are now being distributed by the Postal Department. Schedules will be in the hands ol every {tostmaster before the 26th inst., on which date the taking of the register commences. Exhibition of posters announcing Governor’s Proclamation will he simultaneously exhibited at every post office and at various other points on (be morning of the 26th inst., and distribution of schedules will then commence. In the towns, schedules will be delivered to every residence by letter carriers, and called for on completion. At smaller places where letter crrriers ate not employed, schedules will be handed to eligible persons by postmasters on demand. Provision has been made by the Department for the supply of schedules to persons holding private mail bags, and to those resident ou rural postal deliveries. Special steps are being taken in connection with the registration of crews of coastal and intercolonial vessels. Schedules are not required to be filled in by full-blooded Maoris or halfcaste Maoris living as Maoris, but half-caste Maoris living as Europeans are required to register. The organisation of the post office is being used as far as possible to reach every eligible person in the Dominion, but the responsibility for obtaining a schedule rests upon the individual. Failure to return the completed schedule to the Government Statistician at Wellington, or to an officer of the Postal Department, by the ylh prox, will render eligible persons liable to a maximum penalty of or six mouths imprisonment.
