STABBED WITH A HAT-PIN.
A young girl named Madge Cardno appeared before Mr D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court Wellington, yesterday charged with assaulting a man, George Clark, so as to cause him actual bodily harm, Clark was admitted to the Hospital on Thursday evening suffering from a hatpin wound, allegedly inflicted by accused. His left lung was penetrated, and there is a danger of blood poisoning setting in. Sub-Inspector M'Kinnon applied for a remand until next Wednesday, and this was grunted, Mr H. F. O’Leary appeared for accused. “1 cannot oppose the adjournment,” said counsel, “but I wish to apply for bail.” “The girl’s parents are not well off, and I ask that the ball be as light as possible. It is not an ordinary case, and from information I have the action was quite warranted.” His Worship agreed that, the bail should be fixed at £SO.
