FOXTON DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.
A committee meeting of the above was held in the Council Chambers on Thursday evening last. Present: The President (Rifleman C. F. Johnston), and Riflemen Claris, C. C. Rand, A. Smith, and C. J. Kent-Johnston (hon. sec.). Correspondence was received from headquarters relative to ammunition, also stating there was nothing to prevent the members ot the Himatangi Rifle Club joining the Foxton Club, and that they may be transferred on application to the President. All those men who are not sworn in as members of the Himatangi Club must be sworn in before becoming members of the above club, also that no mau under the age of 25 years be sworn in unless he has been rejected by the medical officer as unfit for the Territorials. It was resolved to arrange with Rifleman Walsh’s sou as to the marking on Saturdays, he to be paid for his services. The secretary was directed to collect all trophies promised. It was resolved to open the season on Saturday, October 2nd, with a handicap shoot at 500 and 600 yards, with 7 shots, optional sighter, at each range, the handicap to he fired three times ; first prize 20s (presented by Rifleman Claris), second prize 12s 6d (presented by the President), third prize 7s 6d (.presented by the President). It was resolved to ask Mr A. J. Kellow to act as handicapper.
