MOUTOA NOTES.

(Own Correspondent.)

A meeting representative of every household in Montoa, was held in tire State School on Thursday evening for the purpose of forming a. Patriotic Society. Mr J. Galland occupied, the chair. After a general discussion it was decided to form a Sick and Wounded Soldiers Society, the weekly subscription to be not less than men, Is ; ladies, six pence ; and children, one penny. Mr Rees was elected chairman of the society, and Mr Galland secretary and treasurer. A Radies Guild was also formed, Mrs Galland being appointed secretary. Mrs C. Hall received a hearty vote of thanks for a donation of £ll 2s (>d, which was recently raised by a patriotic ball and oilier entertainments held in Shannon under the organisation of Mrs Hall, Mrs Tilling and Miss Jean Wills. It is the intention ot the Radies Guild to proceed immediately with the making of articles for Hospital Ship, No. 2. A vote of thanks was passed to the Foxton Radies Guild for offer of advice and assistance in buying material. Mr Rees, on behalf of the gentlemen present, thanked and congratulated the ladies for the large number who had attended the meeting to organise themselves in order to do something for the benefit of the wounded soldiers. Subscription cards are to be given to every member joining the society, arranged to cover a period of two years. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Galland, chairman for the evening.

Miss Wills, of the Moutoa School, has been given three weeks leave of absence and her place is being lillcd by Mr G. Davey, of Ilimataugi. Private Cameron Bell, recently reported killed in action at the Dardanelles, has since been re ported wounded in the shoulder.
