THE WORK OF PARLIAMENT.

The feeling in the lobbies at present is that the session will last quite to the end of the mouth and possibly into the first week in October. An effort will be made to conclude by then. There is no doubt whatever that interest in the work of Parliament has dwindled away, and many members, especially the farming members, who are facing shortage of labour, will be glad to g'l hack to their homes says the Post. The taxation proposals are at present claiming chief attention ; the empowering Bill will be brought down immediately the Budget debate is concluded, and once they are disposed of work will probably proceed more rapidly, although there is very little to complain of id that direction now.
