LET THE OTHER FELLOW GO.
The keynote of communications from various recruiting committees to the Premier is that the young men are inclined to let the other fellows go. More men arc wanted at the war, As well enough we know ; Upon Gallipoli’s red shore, The urgent bugles Id : And all along the con ■ ~ ic. Ate men who safe at home abide, And v/hile they puff their chests with pride The other chap can go. The snlcndid story of our brave. Sets every heart aglow; We cheer and shout and rant and rave' For Bill and Jim and Jnc, Who showed the world that we’re all right, Those hoys can scrap and vve can skile; But when it comes to a straight-out fight--The other chap can go. For what Australian boys have done, How bright their fame will grow ; The story of the Youngest Son, Is echoed to and fro ; But still, as far as 1 can see. Cold feet are cheap as they can lie, And while they grow on yon and raeThe other chap can go. Persnurkus takes another inch, To own that this is so ; B"t presently he’ll feel the pinch, Upon his frozen toe ; No gallant hero of romance, Earning a sweetgirl’s ardent glance : Will he he, when he gets his chance, For soon he’ll have to go! —Sydney Sun.
