JUMBLE SALE.
TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING. This morning, at the invitation of Mr Jackson, head teacher of the local State school, we inspected the children’s gifts made in ‘cspouse lo Mr Jackson’s appeal to the scholars, for to-morrow’ jumble sale. The result of the appeal has exceeded all expectations. The children have taken up the matter with enthusiasm, and as a result of their persuasive pleadings, mother’s larder has been depleted of jams, preserves, spices, eggs, vegetables, fruit and confectionery. The school office is littered with a most varied and miscellaneous collection, including fancy work, books, oruamen-s, toys, bird cage, artistically iced cake, jewellery, and goodness only knows what else. 'U- ” dne of the collection runs - pounds. The children’s stalls to-morrow will be one o* the chief features of the jumble sale, and will he supervised by the teachers. Gifts will be received at the Town Hail to-morrow morning, arid householders are asked to send along anything they can dispense with in the home. There will be no charge for admission, and the sale will commence in the alternoon, and be continued in the evening. The proceeds from the sale are to be devoted to the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund. Included among the gifts are a number of fowls. The members of the Tadics’ Guild will officiate as saleswomen.
