SHEEP-SKIN WAISTCOATS.
The Mayoress (Mrs Fraser) has received the following reply re the gilt waistcoats for the New Zealand troops, from the Wellington Committee ; “We are not sending individually addressed parcels at all, but have made up nut minds that every New Zealand man at the front is to have one, so tell everyone their boy will lie provided. Certainly anyone giving a waistcoat can write what they like inside. We are stamping ours like the sample sent yon. It costs us 5s with the fastenings ; that is cut down to the lowest possible price, and they ate being made by voluntary workers. The 5s includes the waterproofing. We hope your ladles will undertake some. We have to find 1,000 at least in this town (Wellington).”
